Rae's Hope Makes Its Debut on Friday Night Lights

On July 16 and 17, many children of Rae’s Hope, their families, and our community supporters came out to the Cotton Bowl to be part of the TV audience for the hit DirecTV/NBC television series Friday Night Lights.
“Friday Night Lights” is the hit DirecTV/NBC television series from acclaimed Writer/Director Peter Berg. He writes about life in Dillon, Texas, where high school football isn’t just a sport, it’s a way of life. This year, the East Dillon Lions are expected to go all the way to the State Championship. That’s a lot of pressure for Eric Taylor as Head Coach and on the athletes who all have their sights set on college and the NFL. Coach Taylor is ready to mold these boys into champions and encourage them to be better men. It is a family drama that not only focuses on football, but on the lives, loves and goals of people in a small Texas town.
The taping spanned two days and gave our community both an interesting experience and the chance to be extras in a show that will be televised this season. Who knows? Perhaps it also inspired some Rae’s Hope members to aspire to careers in the television industry!
